LOTUS Rating Tools are market-based rating tools developed by the VGBC specifically for the Vietnamese built environment. LOTUS Rating Tools are based on existing rating systems (LEED from the US, BREEAM from the UK, Green Star from Australia) and share with them the same goal of establishing standards and benchmarks to guide the regional construction industry towards a more efficient use of natural resources and to provide an objective assessmentof how “green” a building is.

Points are awarded to a project according to which and how many credits in each category are achieved.

A total score is then calculated and a final rating determined. Depending on the rating achieved, projects are issued with the fitting level of certification.

LOTUS Rating Tools are being developed through long-term research, with the expert advice of specialists, and giving particular consideration to Vietnam’s economic and natural characteristics and to existing Vietnamese standards and policy.
