ST-4.3 Electric and Hybrid-Electric Vehicles

2012 Mitsubishi i

The all-new Mitsubishi i is 100% electric; it doesn’t even have a tailpipe. The internal combustion gasoline engine has been entirely replaced with a clean, efficient electric motor and a high-tech drive train that produce zero on-road emissions. Based on independent EPA testing, the Mitsubishi i can travel 100 km (62 miles) on a full charge, in typical driving conditions. The EPA’s MPGe ratings for the i came in at 203 kpg (126 mpg) City and 159 kpg (99 mpg) Highway for a combined 180 kpg (112 MPG)e—making the Mitsubishi i the most efficient electric vehicle in its class.

Some of the vehicle’s more attractive features include:

  • The stunning dashboard offers easy-to-read feedback, letting you know when your driving is most efficient.
  • Mitsubishi’s proprietary MiEV operating system constantly oversees the major components of the all-electric drivetrain to achieve the best possible eco-friendly performance.
  • Regenerative brakes convert the energy from deceleration into electricity and recharge the battery as you drive.
  • The shift selector offers a choice of three driving modes. Choose between maximum fun, maximum economy and maximum regenerative braking.
  • Strong yet lightweight materials help keep you safe and improve mileage dramatically.

However, it is also worth noting the Mitsubishi i requires a parking area with access to a dedicated 120V / 15A power outlet for charging
