SB-1.2 Low Energy Building Demonstration Projects

Knowledge Hub Building

Completed in 2010, the Knowledge Hub is the Sultanate's first commercial green building. The building incorporates energy efficient technologies, such as
motion sensors for lighting
energy-saving elevators
roof-mounted solar photovoltaic panels

The project cost $4.8m to construct. The building houses initiatives focused on technology training and R&D. Current tenants in the Knowledge Hub are Tech One Global, UBD/IBM Research Centre, Brunei Solution Development Centre under the e-government National Centre, the BEDB Creative Arts Facilities (CRAFT) and the Ministry of Defence National Modelling and Simulation Centre.

The Knowledge Hub is joined by several other buildings in the Anggerek Desa Technology Park, including the iCentre (completed 2007) and the Design and Technology building (completed 2015). “The third phase builds on the foundations set by iCentre and the Knowledge Hub that focus mainly on training and research and development companies. In phase three, we are offering more facilities to the companies to bring their business ideas into end products,” said Assistant CEO at the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) Daniel Leong.
