  • Eco-bus CNG bus fleet in Mexico City

    Mexico City plans to introduce 600 CNG buses by the end of 2012. This figure would represent 50 percent of the city’s operational bus fleet, and will be added to the 60 compressed natural gas buses already serving in the Mexican Federal District as of June 2011. The project, which must first be approved by the local government, aims to intensify the use of CNG not only in passenger mass transit but also in the freight transportation.

  • Car-sharing in Fukuoka, Japan

    Kyushu Electric Power deploys a carsharing project through collaboration with Fukuoka City and an environmental NGO, West Japan Ecology Network which actively promotes green consumer activities.

  • Optibus Bus Rapid Transit in Leon

    León, Mexico, a city of 1.3 million people, launched the second phase of its Integrated Transport System (ITS) in August 2010. The system’s operations were optimized with 10 new stations and 5 additional kilometers of bus-only lanes, plus 29 new high-quality articulated buses that are expected to remove more than 100 polluting buses from the road.

  • Bangkok Bus Rapid Transit

    Bangkok BRT buses have their own lanes and can travel faster than regular buses. The BRT currently consists of one line that travels from Sathorn close to Chong Nonsi BTS station, along the sharp bend of the Chao Phraya river to Ratchapruek station.

    TransJakarta is a bus rapid transit (BRT) system in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was the first BRT system in Southern and Southeast Asia. TransJakarta started on January 25, 2004. As of December 28, 2011 there were 11 corridors (or lanes) in operation, with 4 more to be built.
