  • Transportation and Low Emissions Development Strategies Workshop

    The Asia LEDS Forum 2013: Putting LEDS into Practice brought together 250 representatives from 22 Asian and Pacific countries and peers from Africa, South America, North America, and Europe. Participants represented national and subnational governments, international organizations, civil society groups, academic institutions, and businesses. The event was the second annual gathering of the Asia LEDS Partnership, a regional network that supports peer-to-peer learning, knowledge sharing, and improved coordination among governmental and non-governmental partners to help Asian countries achieve transformative, sustainable economic growth. The Asia LEDS Partnership is one of three regional platforms of the LEDS Global Partnership.

  • Policies to Promote Energy Efficiency in Transport in APEC Economies

    Despite the great diversity of economic and political climates of the 21 APEC members, workshop participants identified several common challenges that almost every economy faces, such as the lack of reliable and comprehensive information, the need for effective education of policymakers and the public, and institutional barriers. They developed the following sets of recommendations

  • APEC 21st Century Renewable Energy Development Initiative (Collaborative I): Workshop on Best Practices in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in Buildings

    The objective of workshop was to provide APEC decision makers with recent advances in the best practices for energy efficiency and renewable energy in buildings. Many APEC economies are experiencing a growth in construction and this will have direct implications in their energy consumptions for decades to come. The workshop underlined opportunities to reduce the consumption of energy in residential, commercial, industrial and public buildings. The topics reviewed includes insulation and construction materials, energy efficient design, analysis of positive externalities, financial mechanisms, regulations and construction codes and the application of energy-efficient and renewable devices and technologies for buildings.

  • 1st meeting of Low-Carbon Model Town Task Force

    The 1st meeting of Low-Carbon Model Town Task Force (LCMT-TF) was held on Tuesday, 13 July 2010 at METI Building in Tokyo, Japan. The meeting was attended by representatives of interested EWG member economies, namely, Canada, China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Chinese Taipei and US. Representatives from APERC as well as observers from Tianjin (China) City Yujiapu CBD Project also attended. Apologies were received from Thailand and EGNRET Chair. (See attached participants list.)
