"Buildings account for up to 40 per cent of energy consumption worldwide, and there are significant opportunities for cost-effective energy efficiency improvements. Recognizing these facts, the BEET was established to:
-
Increase multilateral cooperation in the field of buildings energy efficiency, specifically in relation to:
- the development and implementation of national building energy efficiency rating systems; and
- enhance the development of instruments that enable effective implementation of energy efficiency policy measures.
Through the BEET, IPEEC member countries will work collaboratively to research, inform and support the development and implementation of effective building energy efficiency polices, with a core focus on building rating systems.
Australia (Chair) and the United States of America are the current BEET members, with all IPEEC countries invited to join. Non-member nations, international organisations and private sector entities are encouraged to participate in the Task Group initiatives, following approval by the group."
