Energy Smart Kids Program
In 2017, the DOE produced 555 new “Energy Cost Busters” under its Energy Smart Kids (EnerKids) Program. EnerKids aims to increase youth awareness on energy matters in the hopes of making them smarter energy consumers in the future. Activities included lecturepresentations on energy basics, how
energy is delivered to their homes and how to use energy safely and efficiently.
In support of the DOE's gender and development program, a series of career talks on Breaking Gender Stereotypes in the Energy Workforce, called ENEReady, were likewise held. The talks, which targeted senior high school students, presented the opportunities and benefits of joining the power sector.
The EnerKids program has worked with GSP (Girl Scouts of the Philippines). Around 50 Grade 5 students representing the GSP’s Makati Council participated in the Energy Smart Kids briefing last 19 April 2018 at the DOE-Audio Visual Room, Energy Center. This brings the number of Energy Cost Busters to more than 1500 since its inception in the second semester of 2016.
