Energy efficient practices by citizens of all ages can help economies transition to a lower carbon future. The Smart Jobs Education Curricula effort will gather and organize energy efficiency education resources and best practices from each of the participating economies so that they can be shared and disseminated through advanced web technologies and hand held devices.

Many economies have produced resources that can educate students from primary to university level, as well as the public at large, on energy efficiency. These highlight a wide variety of practical ways that people can reduce their energy bills while remaining comfortable and happy. Materials include outreach through competitions, project-based learning, interactive games, lesson plans, university course presentations, and public education campaigns.
For example, Hong Kong has produced an online energy efficiency education kit with engaging game elements, and Taiwan’s Ministry of Education launched an Energy Literacy Education Project in 2010. By working together to gather resources, develop best practices and leverage today’s information technologies, participating economies can work to reach the younger generation of learners and tomorrow’s energy consumers.
All participating economies will benefit by accessing this wider library of education materials as it is created, and also through the larger effort to evolve best practices in a wiki-like way. Economies may wish to translate high quality resources into other languages and localize resources for specific education requirements, approaches, and other regional considerations. The SJ-2 working group could organize to discuss how best to use the resources gathered.
